If you’ve been wondering what I’ve been up to over the course of the last year, let me share a bit with you.
In addition to working from home, I set myself a project to begin outreach to promote my album on Spotify. If we are locked in the house, why not? Now is the perfect time to pay attention to online streaming platforms. This was quite a task! Not to bore you with details, but it involved identifying appropriate playlists for my music, researching the individuals who “curated” (started) the playlist in order to email and ask if they would consider adding my songs.
Whenever I had free time instead of binge watching another show (which, yes, I did my fair share of that too – Hello, The Crown and Bridgerton!)... I contacted the people that I was able to find. I must have contacted 1,000 people, and only a fraction responded. But…
Perseverance pays off.
Over the last year, my album went from zero streams to 75,000+, and it’s continuing to grow!! As you see, it’s mostly Ave Maria. But the other songs are gaining streams as well; I just need to focus more on promotion.
As a self-promoted artist, I’m completely blown away that my music is being heard in 86 countries, worldwide.
Those of you who follow me on the social media platforms have been receiving play-by-play updates on this process. I actually managed to make some wonderful new acquaintances throughout the experience.
